to the center of the earth
my whole world
is open, laid bare
unfurled

sleepin' with angels
on a cloud so high
I came upon a dream
dancin' with the devil
in a fire so hot
things are as they seem

ragged edges
tattered soul
restless heart
find a way across now
to my home
hold it strong
life's as hard as granite
but I love you like the songs

in the stars

where are the legends
of childhood
and the stories that got us through
lines drawn down
then laid to waste
the labyrinth we once knew

so hard to exist
ocean in a drop of rain
wind comes down
